We are very sad to announce that the Rochford 10k River Run, which was due to be held on Sunday 10th May, has had to be cancelled.
We have taken this decision based on advice given to us by England Athletics and Public Health England who have advised against all non-essential gatherings and sporting events at least until the end of April. Please see EA’s latest statement dated March 17th below.
We looked into moving the race to a later date in autumn or late summer, but with lots of other spring races relocating to that space, along with all the currently scheduled races, it would not be an easy task to fit our race in.
Added to this there might be added complications at that time of year regarding the land we would be running on. With these factors and the uncertainty of just how long this virus can go on for, it has been decided that reluctantly we should cancel the race for 2020 and instead concentrate our efforts to make the 2021 race our best race ever.
We are speaking to the race entry company about automatically deferring all entries to next year, but also with an option on the possibility of refunds for those that would prefer that. Please bear with us whilst these details are worked out. We will publish details and further information ASAP.
We would like to thank you for all your support and also the efforts of all the people who behind the scenes had put in a lot of hard work towards this year’s race. Our sincere thanks extend to all the volunteers who were ready to help on the day.
Please all stay safe, our amazing marshals look forward to cheering you on in 2021.
